Constructing a interstate grade U.S. Route 58 between Suffolk and South Hill.
New freeway would be constructed between the Suffolk Bypass and the Franklin Bypass, between the Courtland and Franklin Bypasses, and a direct connector from west of Emporia to I-85.
A consistent cross section for new location & upgraded segments is as followed -
70 feet median
10 feet outer shoulder
4 feet inner shoulder
75 MPH design speed
70 MPH posted speed
Existing freeways in the corridor will retain their features, only being slightly modified to meet safety standards, and to accommodate 70 MPH speed limits.
