Washington's Crossing and the 1st Battle of Trenton
This tour begins at Washington Crossing PA, where Washington and his men on December 25, 1776 started crossing the Delaware River at McConkey’s Ferry, as depicted in Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze’s painting of which a full size digital copy hangs at the Washing Crossing Memorial and Visitors Center. From there we follow the troops as they cross the Delaware and travel along Washington Crossing State Park, NJ and then turn down Bear Mountain Road. They cross Jacob’s Creek and continue south until reaching a Hessian soldier outpost in Trenton. They soon reach the center of the small Town of Trenton where the 1st battle of Trenton begins. Our tour ends at the Old Barracks Museum.
